OAO Mogotex, a major manufacturer of textiles and apparel in Belarus and the CIS countries, has invested more than US$ 30 million over the past five years for modernization and upgradation of its production units, Mogotex director general Vikto Matiyevich told reporters, Belarusian Telegraph Agency BelTA reported.

Mr. Matiyevich informed that the technical re-equipment program which has been going on since 2008 is about to get completed. He added that the company has plans to invest another about €5 million over the next one year period, aimed at expanding the product range.

As per the company’s business plan, its monthly fabric production capacity would increase from the current 3.6 million metres a month to about 4-4.1 million metres a month by late 2015. Fabrics for overalls account for 70 percent of the company’s total production, while home textiles account for about 25 percent.

While purchasing new equipment, Mogotex has chosen European manufacturers as their products meet the highest standards, and the company would continue to follow the same strategy in future because long-term cooperation results in getting advantageous prices and better supply contracts, Mr. Matiyevich said.

Mogotex was established in 1973, and it was made a joint stock company in 2000. The company makes fabrics for special clothing and uniforms, garment-lining fabrics for raincoats, ready-made overalls and home textiles.

In 2011, Mogotex opened a garment manufacturing unit in Bykhov, Mogilev Oblast, followed by one more unit in 2013 at the premises of the affiliated enterprise Mona in Polotsk, Vitebsk Oblast. These units have capacities to produce 20,000 units of special clothing and uniforms and 30,000 units of home textile products per month.
