Bluish-white LED light bulbs float on the Otaru Canal in Hokkaido, filling the area with a fantastic atmosphere.
OTARU - About 5,000 LED lightbulbs illuminated the Otaru Canal in Hokkaido, making the canal look like a star-filled night sky.
The attraction is part of a winter event organised by the Otaru Tourism Association.
Tourists and local residents on Saturday released the bulbs, each measuring 8.5 centimeters in diameter, on the canal water. The bulbs are equipped with solar panels and rechargeable batteries.
As soon as the bulbs were placed in the water, they began emitting a bluish-white light, delighting spectators.
The lights can be viewed through Monday, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
