PPG Industries announced its transition of residential insulting glass production to its IG Service Center in Carlisle, Pa., by installing the first Automated Tri-Lite Assembly System (ATLAS) production line for insulating glass (IG) in the U.S, according to a company release. Previously located in Allentown, Pa., the PPG IG Service Center distributes IG units for use in residential windows and patio doors.

In 2011 the operation was consolidated at PPG's Carlisle Works to "maximize operational efficiencies at the plant, which also produces PPG residential glass products." These products include Sunclean self-cleaning glass, Solarban solar control, low-E glasses and Sungate passive, low-E glasses.

PPG Residential IG Service Center, a full-service fabrication facility, along with the ATLAS system creates insulating, energy-efficient triple-pane IG units by using a system that makes conventional IG units as well as IG units in irregular shapes, sizes and configurations, according to the announcement.
